All kids are like that. Fire is a fascinating thing, seemingly alive, often beautiful, and more than a bit dangerous--all those are attractive qualities for a curious kid.

Enjoy the mid-autumn festival!Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09598437779185407354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12116964.post-21227098270730397252007-09-17T20:56:00.000+08:002007-09-17T20:56:00.000+08:00Everyone is busy making mooncakes these days! Very sad. :( But they still have them now and I've realized the designs are still the same from the time I was growing up. Haha. I think most kids are fascinated with fire, which explains why most fires in the home are started by kids. It's like magic, isn't it, for a flame to appear out of nothing. I'm not ambitious enough to try making the mooncakes though, but it's fun to do it with company.SIGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16396561989857982626noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12116964.post-64424634433379833922007-09-16T23:11:00.001+08:002007-09-16T23:11:00.001+08:00The wooden mould is an object of beauty in itself....The wooden mould is an object of beauty in itself...great looking mooncakes wish I could have some!Beau Lotus 涟https://www.blogger.com/profile/07357356510646043072noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12116964.post-26810488874829176392007-09-16T23:11:00.000+08:002007-09-16T23:11:00.000+08:00sanrio3138: i have no idea. i didn't come up with ...sanrio3138: i have no idea. i didn't come up with the recipe. only viable reason i can think of is that it adds more elasticity to the dough?

cuen: actually i think it's optional. i forgot to mention that i didn't add the banana essence.

anon: you bet! makes for a healthier and guilt-free mooncake :)the bakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16808684830127902541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12116964.post-20005492792943438282007-09-16T23:10:00.000+08:002007-09-16T23:10:00.000+08:00yummy! send some over here!yummy! send some over here!Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10188103984666876013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12116964.post-3097023508660262042007-09-16T22:40:00.000+08:002007-09-16T22:40:00.000+08:00will be trying this recipe soon, phoon huat's prem...will be trying this recipe soon, phoon huat's premix recipe calls for 100g shortening for 500g flour+sugar premix...

this one's only ~12g (1tbsp) shortening for ~445g flour+sugar mix.

makes alot of difference to the calories...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12116964.post-8854872447145169042007-09-16T21:46:00.000+08:002007-09-16T21:46:00.000+08:00May I know why do we have to use banana essence ah...May I know why do we have to use banana essence ah?Cuenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12274035490419343194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12116964.post-22331279039893834672007-09-16T21:09:00.000+08:002007-09-16T21:09:00.000+08:00Hi baker, may I ask why must you prepare the small...Hi baker, may I ask why must you prepare the small amount of hot dough?
